Senate to probe the raid of the houses of some judges and their arrests by the Department of State Services.
Operatives of the DSS had invaded the houses of about 8 Judges; some Justices of the Supreme Court of the Country, some of The Federal High Court and also a retired Chief Judge.
This act of the DSS where they invaded and raided the Judges houses happened between the late hours of October 7th and early hours of October 8th, 2016 leading to a subsequent arrest on allegation of corruption of the said Judges, was strongly condemned by the Senate.
At the plenary held on Wednesday, 19th of October, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary stated that the action of the DSS would be probed hence inviting all affected Judges to appear before the Committee so as to properly investigate the matter.
The Chairman also said the panel would work on the report provided by the National Judicial Council on the issue.
The names of the affected Judges are;
Justice John Okoro and Justice Sylvester Nguta of the Supreme Court; Justice Namdi Dimgba and Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja; Kabiru Auta, FHC, Kano; Muazu Pindiga, FHC, Gombe; and a former Chief Judge of Enugu State, Innocent Umezulike.
