There will be a hectic schedule at the Tianjin Open on Sunday after rain brought the play between Peng Shuai and Danka Kovinic to a premature end on Saturday.

Peng Shuai and Danka Kovinic were locked at 3-3 in the final set when rain suspended play for the day, with Alison Riske and Svetlana Kuznetsova unable to get their Tianjin Open semi-final under way.

Kovinic took the first set off Peng, but the home contender – given a second walkover of the tournament when Agnieszka Radwanska was unable to face her in the quarter-finals due to injury – hit back to level the match.

Peng took a 3-1 lead in the decider, but Kovinic broke back and held before rain halted her momentum and ensured the unseeded duo will finish off their last-four encounter on Sunday.

Second seed Kuznetsova and the unseeded Riske were not in action on Saturday, so one of the two will have to win two matches on the final day of the tournament to take the title.
